Some of the residents in New Jersey want to make it more difficult for homeowners to rent homes in the summer only to decrease the amount of car traffic in their city and the number of people staying in town for the summer. There are people in Ashbury Park that are welcoming people to rent. Judy Hall, who is a resident in Ashbury Park is an advocate of weekly home rentals at the Jersey shore. Hall also mentioned that it is a fantastic vacation spot for families visiting from out of town. Her house is currently listed online. Families come every year to rent her home for the summer.
Popular rental websites such as VRBO and Airbnb advertises New Jersey shore as the ultimate vacation destination for the summer. Jersey Shore has the beach, live entertainment and a boardwalk. What more can you ask for? People who want to enforce strict regulations are Michael Capabianco, who is currently the City Manager of Ashbury Park. He stated that they are 225 short term home rental properties on the internet currently for their city. Capabianco wants homeowners to pay an annual cost of $300.00 for an inspection fee before the tenant moves in. It would save money in the long run. The current ordinance in Ashbury Park requires homeowners to pay an inspection fee of $150.00 ahead of time before the tenant occupies the property. The fine is a $500.00 summons if you do not comply with the law.

though a local realtor. A certificate of occupancy must be received by the agency for the short term home rental along with a fire safety check as well. Currently, only single family condos, or home rentals are permitted. So Jo Biando mentioned that he could not put his two story home for rental unless he was staying in one of the two story rooms. Revenue from tourists who visit Ashbury Park has increased each year. Capabianco wants Ashbury Park to remain a summer destination for families instead of allowing investors to buy home rentals for immediate cash. There is a one month limit on short term home rentals except in beach areas during the summer. The New Jersey State Assembly passed a bill to charge a hotel fee for Airbnb home rentals.
